It's been six days since I last posted, and I already feel more inspired for the future regarding my financial situation.
First, my job is already picking up hours. What was originally proposed to me was 30 hours a week. However, my usual day ended up being six and a half hours, making it just over 32 hours a week. Another $20+ never hurts, right? But it gets better. I was proposed a new idea of now working full time and possible overtime at times the closer it gets to the 4th of July (I work at TNT Fireworks). I worked seven and a half hours today, and I will be working eight hours tomorrow and about five or so on Saturday which should end up about 40 hours a week.
What my job entails here is that I make the maps for the firework stands. I use GoogleEarth to get a satellite view of it, measure distances from buildings and curbs to coincide with the brand new laws from the Fire Marshal in Kern County (that have been sprung on TNT within the past few weeks this close to the 4th!), and writing up all these details plus client information. It's not highly exciting, but I have very good knowledge of maps thanks to my last job, so I can turn them out very quickly. It was my speed and accuracy that has led me to more hours.
The only downside to all of this is that come mid-July, this job will be over, and I will be back on the look out for a new job. Going from job to job isn't exactly inspiring, but at least it's not because of my own faults.
However, little to no savings needs to be taken out to cover everyday expenses. I decided to opt out of getting unemployment wages. The money used to fund my unemployment should go to someone more deserving even, if it would only be a little bit. Wouldn't want to contribute to the national debt, now would I?
